March 25, 2017

The maker movement in the United States isn’t just a hobby; it’s having a significant impact on school curriculum development and growing local economies. To celebrate making and maker culture, residents throughout New Jersey will come together on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25, 2017 in libraries, schools, museums, colleges, makerspaces, businesses and other community locations.

We’re proud to be a participating site for New Jersey Makers Day on Saturday, March 25! Community members of all ages are invited to join us for an exciting day filled with activities focusing on maker culture!

For Everyone:

Meet Mr. Toyboto!

Stop by the library between 12:00pm and 2:00pm for a chance to meet Mr. Toyboto and his creator, local comedian and Nerd Nite Bethlehem host Glen Tickle. Glen will be demonstrating Mr. Toyboto and explaining how he put a tiny computer in his daughter’s stuffed robot and programmed it to tell jokes on stage.

For Children:

Between 10:00am and 12:00pm, stop by the children’s room for a chance to make a CD hovercraft!

In addition, all day we will have supplies for making pinwheels, plus coloring pages, word finds, and more!

For Teens and Adults:

At 2:00pm, we’ll be making book page mason jar lanterns:

Give old, worn out books new life and create a unique piece of decor for your home! All materials will be provided, but participants may bring their own books if they wish.

Spaces for this activity are limited and registration is required.  Call the library at 908-454-3712 to sign up, or register online!
